Frequently Asked Questions
  • How does Twigs Floral Design Studio source the fresh flowers used in their designs?
Our fresh blooms are sourced from all over the world. Flowers are grown specifically for our industry worldwide. Amazing hydrangeas from Holland, delicate orchids in many varieties from Thailand, greens of varying looks and shades from as far away as New Zealand and Israel to our continental United States in Florida. The world is a floral playground for us and the depth of our reach is unlimited. With the exception of certains blooms we have the ability to secure most varieties for you. (Advance ordering is always best when looking for specific cuts and colors.)
  • I love a fresh flower arrangement that you offer on your website but wish to have a different color palette used, is this possible?"
Absolutely! The fresh flower designs we have listed are there to inspire you. You may shop online and simply leave us some additional direction as it relates to the colors in your "notes."
  • How often do your fresh flowers arrive?
The frequency of our fresh flower arrivals is dependent on the time of year and availability of certain blooms. There are times when our fresh flowers arrive twice a week and still others when we receive deliveries daily. One thing is for certain when it comes to our fresh flowers, if they aren't fresh or do not meet our idea of fresh, they are rejected and returned. We do not compromise when it comes to the quality we seek to create your designs.
  • What do you do with your "dead flowers?""
It is very rare that we have flowers in stock long enough for them to pass yet when we do we toss them out. At Twigs Florist we believe that each of our designs is a true test of our abilities and further that what we choose to use in fresh flowers to execute a design is a direct reflection of not only our art but our integrity as designers. You will never see a questionable flower in our fresh flower arrangements and if the occasion should ever arise for you where our flowers are less than fresh looking bring it to our attention, immediately.
  • Do flowers come in grades?
Yes. Yes they do! Like most anything these days flowers are offered in grades. At Twigs Floral Design Studio we stick with the highest grades in fresh flowers to ensure many things. First and foremost is our enjoyment in working with magnificent blooms. It sounds selfish but it is not. When we as designers are thrilled with our blooms you are thrilled with the result of our designs. Many of our sources will have "tear sheets" pointing out their specials and we pass on these most times realizing that they are leftover, older, or below grade cuts. The sourcing of fresh flowers at Twigs is an art in itself and our selection, and grading, is more particular than most florists.
  • Do you sell flowers at wholesale?
We believe in the integrity of our industry and the relevance of the creative force behind it. While we certainly respect an individual who wishes to "do it yourself" we do not sell fresh flowers at wholesale. Our model follows that of our respected wholesale houses who will not sell to the general public. We can secure your blooms for you and preferred pricing will be offered based on the quantity of flowers purchased yet you will pay our retail price for them.
  • How are flowers priced?
At Twigs Floral Design Studio we follow the model that has been in place for decades in our industry. The amount of effort placed on our part before fresh flowers are made available to our clients is extensive and requires different levels of treatment in preservatives, temperatures and overall care. The pricing of your blooms takes all of this into account and the pricing model we have in place ensures our success in the floral industry.
  • If I get my flowers online from another source will you arrange them for me?
Twigs Floral Design Studio will not arrange flowers sourced from another outlet nor lend our name to flowers from another source.
  • Does Twigs Floral Design Studio offer a specific delivery time, is this possible?"
Each fresh flower arrangement is carefully routed in a way for our drivers to best execute, successfully. While we do pay close attention to timeframes whether your flowers are being delivered to a business or a funeral service, preferential treatment is shown to our clients who have placed their order in advance. Twigs does observe a cut off time for deliveries for certain areas and this is dependent on the flow of our designs being delivered each day. We suggest you place your order a day ahead of time if you need it delivered within certain hours. (The accuracy of the address and phone number will ensure our success in delivering your fresh flowers in a timely manner.)
  • Do you deliver flowers out of state or out of your delivery area?
Twigs will arrange a flower delivery for you out of state. We find the perfect florist to handle your sentiment much like you found us. We can arrange to have flowers delivered anywhere in the continental United States including Alaska and Hawaii. The service fee for this is 15$. Regretfully we can not arrange to have flowers delivered to other countries.
  • Do you offer delivery confirmations?
While proper etiquette would suggest you receive a phone call from the recipient this isn't always the case. When you place your order through our website you will receive notfications along the way and most especially when your fresh flowers have been successfully delivered (via email). If you need confirmation simply ask and we will accommodate this for you.
  • What happens if no one is home to receive the flowers I've ordered for delivery?
Our delivery drivers are skilled at what they do. They will seek a neighbor willing to receive the flowers for their neighbor and will arrange for them to receive them when they arrive home. At times, depending on the weather and circumstances, your flowers will be left in a safe location on their property with notices in key places alerting them to their placement. It is very rare when flowers are returned to our design space for another delivery attempt at a later time or date.
  • Do you offer a discounted delivery rate for weekly deliveries to a home or office?
In most cases a delivery fee will be waived or discounted for a weekly standing order.
  • Does Twigs provide "House Accounts" or "Corporate Accounts?""
Yes. Twigs Floral Design Studio will open an account for you or your company with established credit. The ease of ordering is enhanced and your history is always at our fingertips to access, especially when you are on the run. Our "House Accounts" enjoy a thirty-day billing period with a statement of activity mailed at the end of the month either by regular post or by email. • Are you available to design our corporate function(s) or holiday party?
Twigs Floral Design Studio offers free consultations to discuss your needs and the parameters of your gathering. We will source all of your rentals and of course lend our designs in fresh flowers to ensure its success. Reach out to us to begin your planning.
  • How much time is required for you to fill an order for a funeral service?
When we receive your order, or your arrival at our design space, to discuss funeral flowers time is paused and your comfort is our top priority. We wholly understand what you are going through and how the element of fresh flowers brings a level of comfort to an uncomfortable time. The time it takes to execute your sentiment in fresh flowers needn't concern you. Leave that to Twigs.
  • Does Twigs Floral Design Studio offer a package price for their funeral designs?
Each design of fresh flowers for a funeral design and installation is individually tailored for our clients. We do not believe in package pricing. Each client is honoring their loved one from their own point of view and placing their trust in us to translate this through the design of fresh flowers. Package pricing places us, and you, in a box. The depth of our knowledge when it comes to translating a loved one's personality is extensive and experience has taught us to think outside of the box.
  • The funeral home recommended florists we won't use, do we have to use them?"
Absolutely not. To our knowledge Twigs Floral Design Studio is not on any referral lists of local funeral homes. And if we are it is through merit. Unfortunately many funeral homes have "arrangements" with florists and receive a kickback. We feel this is simply wrong, and most times families are unsuspecting. Kicking back a portion of what you invest for a loved-one's floral tributes to a funeral home is blatantly dishonest to us. Regretfully this practice has become common practice in the funeral industry.
  • Can you address the rumor of using questionable flowers in funeral designs?
At Twigs our standards are higher than most when it comes to the freshness and quality of our flower blooms. We absolutely refuse to create a design whether for a funeral or every day design with flowers that are sub-par. We only use the freshest, premium cuts in our designs.
  • Are you available to meet us at our home for the planning of a funeral and flower tributes?
Of course. We are available to meet in your home to discuss the perfect pairing of fresh flowers to your loved one's personality.
  • Can you make a tribute designed to match a loved one's favorite past time or brand?
Our ability to create the perfect tribute is only limited by your imagination. Whether its a guitar, a giant swan, Disney character or logo we gladly accept this challenge. Some of our best tributes have been the ones that most designers can not execute.
  • What's the difference between "funeral flowers" and "sympathy flowers?""
Flowers for the funeral service go directly to the funeral home. These floral arrangements are often large and formal. They provide decoration and serve as a tribute to the deceased. Due to this, they look best in a funeral home and at graveside services. Funeral flowers are not addressed to a particular loved one of the deceased but are intended, instead, as a way of paying respect to the deceased themselves. Sympathy flowers go the home of the deceased, or family member. They should be addressed and sent directly to a loved one of the deceased, family member, friend, acquaintance, or business associate, who has suffered the recent loss. They are usually smaller or mid-sized floral arrangements that look great on end tables or used as centerpieces. Plants also make a great sympathy choice as they provide a lasting remonder of your thoughtfulness and serve as a keepsake in memory of the recipient's loved one.
  • Is it appropriate to send flowers for the casket?
The tradition of adorning the casket with fresh flowers is typically reserved for the closest family members, often the deceased's spouse or partners, children, or those making the funeral arrangements. For that reason, it is recommended that you inquire with the family before ordering a gift of flowers for the casket.
  • I just heard the news..is it too late to send funeral flowers?
No matter when you hear the sad news, sending flowers is always appropriate. If you still have time, you can choose to send a flower arrangement to the funeral service. If you already missed the funeral service, you can send a plant or sympathy flowers to the home of the surviving members.
  • Are there certain types of flowers that are not appropriate for sending to a funeral service?
Every bloom, when tastefully arranged, is appropriate for expressing condolences. Designs that are going to a memorial or funeral service usually have larger flowers to create dramatic tributes. Small-scale flowers in mid- to small-sized designs are typically used for a sympathy design sent to a home. Only family members who are arranging the funeral should order flowers for the casket.
  • The obituary says "In lieu of funeral flowers," but I still would like to send flowers. Is this appropriate?"
As part of making funeral arrangements, family members sometimes request a charitable donation is made "in lieu of flowers." We think you should make a charitable donation if you are moved to do so; however, it is also acceptable should you decide you would also like to send flowers to the funeral service. Your donation will honor the family's request and the flower will add beauty, fragrance and life to a somber event.
  • I'm not certain where the service is being held. Can you help me with that?
Don't worry. If you have the name of the deceased and/or the funeral home, we have the local obituaries on hand the check them. You can trust us to take great care of your order and get your arrangement to the funeral on time. Also, it is possible that the florist has multiple orders for the same funeral. We will be aware of any theme or color scheme preferred, as well as any customs.
  • "I'd like to send a colorful, less somber arrangement, that celebrates life."
A funeral service is as much about gaining closure following a death as it is about celebrating the delight and energy the deceased brought to life. For that reason, selecting vibrant, colorful, and bright funeral flowers are just as appropriate and can add a joyful note of remembrance to an otherwise somber occasion.
  • I don't know what to send to a funeral that is out of town.
If you are sending flowers to a service out of town, we will ask the local florist who delivers your arrangement to fill it "according to local customs." They will send the style design that is best suited for the service. There are many types of services, from traditional funerals to memorial services. It's appropriate to send funeral flowers to any of these services.
  • I am unsure about what to say and how to sign the card.
Most enclosure cards are pre-printed with messages like "With Deepest Sympathy" or "In Loving Memory." All you need to do most times is sign your name. You should use your first and last name to avoid confusion for the family. You are not limited in your sentiment, simply state what is on your mind with a clear signature.
  • I want to provide an arrangement for the service but I don't know what the setup will be that day.
Trust us to choose the most appropriate design for you whether it be a traditional design or easle spray or a wreath or vased design.
  • I'd like to send flowers to the memorial that can also be enjoyed at the viewing and church service.
For multiple day services, it's best to send funeral flowers that are designed in a container with water or floral foam. This will keep the flowers fresh for the longest possible time. Design styles include vase arrangements, urns, and container designs. Plants are also an excellent choice, as they can be enjoyed in the home long after the services are over.
  • Do you offer an in-home plant service?
Yes. Many of our clients enjoy the varities of foliage plants we bring into our design space at Twigs Florist. Still many find it easy to neglect them once they bring them home which results in the phone call conversation of "I don't know what happened, my plants looked so great." Twigs will provide an in-home plant service for you to keep up the care of your plants and when warranted bring in new varieties to keep your sanctuary up to date, and fresh-looking. We welcome your inquiries for this service.
  • Will Twigs Floral Design Studio provide flowers for my home on a weekly basis?
